Moorlands:
Cottage Accommodation of The Year!
"MOORLANDS offer four
attractive, luxurious cottages situated in a quiet location within the
Wiltshire town of Melksham.
The cottages have been tastefully renovated from
original stable buildings and now offer holiday accommodation of the highest
standard.
The exceptional quality of the cottages coupled
with the owners attention to detail and providing
excellent service was this week recognised by the North
Thames Gazette. We are delighted to announce that Moorlands is the winner of
our prestigious Award of Excellence for Cottage Accommodation of the Year
2004!
The exceptional quality of the
cottages coupled with the owners attention to detail
and providing excellent service was this week recognised
by the North Thames Gazette. We are delighted to announce that Moorlands is
the winner of our prestigious Award of Excellence for Cottage Accommodation
of the Year 2004!
On hearing news of the award, owner Jackie Moore
said; We have put a lot of work into making the cottages special and it is
lovely for our work to be recognised in this way. Making guests stay
special is important to me and as a result many have become friends. If they
are celebrating a special occasion I will provide flowers and wine to make it
special!
Sleeping between two to five people, the
double-glazed cottages provide all the modern comforts you would expect from
accommodation of this quality, while retaining the buildings original charm
and character. Heating, lighting and
linen are all included in the price of the cottage.
Light and airy lounge / dining areas provide the
perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. Kitchens are fully fitted with
electric hob and oven, microwave and refrigerator, while a laundry room is
available for use. There is an adjoining tourist information centre
exclusively for the use of guests whilst in residence.
The single-storey cottages are particularly suited
for guests who find walking and climbing stairs a problem.
Wheelchairs are available during your stay free of cost.
A great deal of effort has been employed in
ensuring that everything is provided for guests, including an information
pack on local facilities and places of interest to visit.
The central location to Melksham
ensures that guests are within easy reach of the towns
shops, restaurants and amenities. However, if you wish to explore further a
field, Moorlands provides an excellent touring base for the surrounding areas
with many wonderful national trust sites on the door step.
There are many historic sites of interest nearby
including Corsham Court, residence of the Methuen
family since 1747, Bradford-on-Avons 7th century Saxon church, Bowood
House where Dr. Joseph Priestly discovered Oxygen and the stunning white
horses carved into the chalk downs at Cherhill and
Westbury.
The National Trust properties at Chalfield Manor and the Courts at Holt are well worth a
visit, as is the beautiful Lacock Abbey, where you
can also wander the museum commemorating the work of William Henry Fox
Talbot, father of modern photography.
Of course, many visitors will be keen to take the
short journey to nearby Bath,
where you will find magnificent architecture, wonderful shopping, culture and
of course the Roman Baths.
A little further a field, Salisbury Cathedral is a
must for anyone taking a holiday here, while a trip to Wells Cathedral can be
combined with a tour of the beautiful Cheddar Gorge and cave system.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find many
activities to enjoy. There is excellent countryside walking on the doorstep,
while the coastal footpaths of Somerset and Dorset are within easy reach. We also have the
surrounding Kennet and Avon
canal which has some lovely walks and cycle ways with some superb views on
display. The sportier among us can also play golf, go fishing or try a little
horse riding. And for the even more adventurous amoung
you we can also provide excursions from half to full days 4x4 off roading.
Moorlands is a great base
for a holiday at any time of the year. The lovely cottages have been awarded
a 4* rating by the English Tourism Council and groups wishing to book several
cottages for a special occasion can be catered for.
Around Christmas time, Moorlands provides a great
base for a special shopping break. With Salisbury
and Swindon on the
doorstep, visitors can relax, enjoy great shopping and take in the wonderful
Christmas light displays.
Moorlands excellent website has
just been updated and offers much more information."
